ABOUT DISTRICT
Kangpokpi District, located in Manipur, was established on December 8, 2016, through a government notification. Inhabited by diverse ethnic groups, including Kukis, Nagas, Nepalis, and Meiteis, it has rich cultural and socio-economic heritage. The district’s headquarters, Kangpokpi Town, sits at an altitude of 992 meters, approximately 45 km from Imphal. Covering 1698 sq. km, it consists of nine sub-divisions and 534 villages, with a population of 193,744 as per the 2011 Census. The district operates under the administration of the Deputy Commissioner and has an autonomous Sadar Hills District Council with 26 members.
